Opening Hours

The Castrovillari Branch is accessible by appointment only.
For information: as-cs@cultura.gov.it.

For organizational reasons, visitors may request up to three units per day.
While in the Study Hall, visitors are required to occupy their designated seats.
Authorized visitors may take photographs using personal equipment directly from their designated consultation stations.

Reproduction Services

With prior authorization, visitors can use the reproduction service, which allows photocopying of documents, provided the materials are not fragile or in poor condition.
Reproduction is not permitted for:

  • Bound documents
  • Fragile or deteriorated materials
  • Topographic maps and drawings
  • Parchments

Visitors may also take photographs of documents using their own cameras.

Archival Material Reservations

Reservations must be made at least three days in advance via email: as-cs@cultura.gov.it.
Requests should include precise archival references (collection, series, subseries, box, and folder) and the intended consultation date.

Educational Activities and Cultural Promotion

The Castrovillari Branch organizes educational activities for middle and high school students by appointment. It also participates in the cultural initiatives of the State Archives of Cosenza and promotes exhibitions and events, often in collaboration with other institutions.

The Building

The building housing the Castrovillari Branch is a remnant of the ancient Santa Maria di Costantinopoli Hospital, commonly known as the Hospital of the Poor. Established in 1809 following legislation on the suppression of religious properties, it reopened in 1840 under the name Civil Hospital.
